Audit firm KPMG Canada buys World of Women NFT
The Canadian arm of KPMG, one of the ‘big-four’ accounting firms, has now made its first foray into NFTs with the purchase of a digital collectible from the World of Women (WoW) collection. The move came less than a month after the same branch added Bitcoin and Ether to its balance sheet.

Publicly announcing the purchase, KPMG revealed that it has purchased Woman #2681 on February 13 for 25 ETH, roughly $70,000 at the time of writing. The World of Women series is a collection of 10,000 artworks of diverse and powerful women, with a floor price of around $24,000.
Benjie Thomas, Managing Partner, Advisory Services, KPMG in Canada, said in the announcement:
“This acquisition reflects our belief not only in the continued growth of NFTs, but in the value of WoW and its mission. Having now gone through the process, we are well-positioned to guide our clients around building a corporate NFT strategy, including, acquiring, and safeguarding NFTs.”
In addition to purchasing NFTs, the firm has also minted kpmgca.eth, a domain name built on Ethereum Name Service (ENS) to map long crypto addresses to simple URLs.
The World of Women NFTs gained heavy traction after actress Reese Witherspoon promoted the project and her media company Hello Sunshine partnered with it earlier this month. With over $200 million in trading volume, the collection has now partnered with music magazine Billboard to create a series of special covers for its annual ‘Women in Music’ issue.
